How do i store purple onion bulbs tillim ready to plant. i heard the fridge. i did in plastic baggie they rott?

i bought a big bag and planted 16 for now, i put them in the fridge in a plastic baggie for more plant after i harvest what i already planted. they molded. could someone please tell me a better way. tks
