Speedy Gonzales "the fastest mouse in all Mexico"?

I am currently living in Mexico and I have been asked by quite a few people here if I could find Speedy Gonzales DVD's. I told the ones that have Direct TV that Boomerang probably has it but I have been informed that they don't play it. When I inquired in the United States, I was told its not shown no more because its racist. So, I was wondering why its racist in th USA but the people in Mexico love Speedy Gonzales?
