Using my EBT card....?

When I am buying food and non-food items do I have to separate the food from the non-food to use my ebt card or can they ring it all up at once? Of course I know that ebt food stamps only pays for food items and I have to pay for non-food items, I just want to know if i have to separate everything and pay for them separately or not
